An uneventful bus trip, except for customs. We had to exit Vietnam, drive 100-yards and
then enter Cambodia. I am surprised that
we made it through in only an hour.
People are like vultures, grabbing at their passports, throwing their
passports at the customs agents, and yet it still seems to get done on both
sides of the border. We just watched and
shook our heads.
As Shelley can attest, bus rides are never a "Pleasant Journey"?!
Everything is a copy in SE Asia, including the Winn (looks identical, but spelled incorrectly) and it's for sale. This was one of the many casinos for sale at the Vietnam/Cambodia border
Bye Bye Vietnam...Hello Cambodia!
We arrived an headed to our hotel in a Tuk Tuk. We heard this constantly "Need Tuk Tuk?"
Shelley protecting our bags on the front of the Tuk Tuk...she has proven to be very tough!!
We took a tuk tuk to our hotel, dropped off our bags and
headed north to the old Raffles Hotel’s Elephant Bar for happy hour and the
renowned Singapore Slings. We felt like
we were in colonial France. The staff
was super friendly and we had a fun/difficult conversation with one of the
staff who wanted to learn more English.
Erik had him write down two things to remember to say: 1) Beer belly (westerners will laugh at this
one) and 2) There are many fish in the ocean (his girlfriend just left him for
a man with more money).
